Real Property & Business Law 2024 Year End Review of Case Law
Tuesday, January 28, 2025 (12:00 PM - 1:30 PM) (PST)
Description
Join two knowledgeable and experienced attorneys for a 90 minute program in which they highlight and discuss the most important business and real estate appellate opinions published in 2024 out of the California courts, the 9th Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
While the program materials attempt to briefly describe each opinion issued in the business and real estate legal arenas, the focus of the discussion will be on opinions most likely to be relevant to Bay Area business and real estate practitioners.
Opinions from issues stemming from the COVID pandemic will be discussed, and the rest of the free-ranging discussion may touch on the following areas of law: boundary/trespass, conveyances, environmental law, land use, landlord-tenant, real property secured transactions, lien priority, premises liability, contract interpretation, arbitration agreements, corporations, directors and officers, securities law, business torts, cyber law (excluding cases typically deemed "intellectual property" matters, such as copyright and patent), and cannabis law.
Digressions may include community property, employment law, and fraudulent conveyances.
Some discussion of recent changes in law may be included, time permitting.
