Celebrate March - Women's History Month

Come join us for hors d'oeuvres and beverages to reconnect with friends and meet new ones at a mixer on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. 

We will have a short program focusing on the plight of women judges and lawyers escaping Afghanistan. Both the International Association of Women Judges and the American Bar Association have launched projects to assist these formidable women who need our help. 

Judges Socrates (“Pete”) Manoukian and Catherine Gallagher (ret.) will give us insights into the dire situation in Afghanistan and discuss the conditions affecting six female Afghan Judges here in California. SCCBA Women Lawyers, and our co-Sponsors, want to help these Judges with their needs. Learn how you too can help. 

There is no cost to attend. Please consider bringing gift cards, prepaid credit cards and/or cash to support this important initiative. In addition, there will be an avenue to donate online or by check if you want your contribution to be tax-deductible. Claire Melehani, co-Chair of the Women Lawyers Section, will collect all donations at the event and oversee their distribution amongst the refugee Judges.

One hour of MCLE credit will be given for all participants attending this program who certify that they have listened to the podcast on Criminal – Episode 204: They Came for the Judges before attending the Networking Mixer. An attestation form will be provided.
