Family law judgment packets are technical and often rejected by court staff for a myriad of procedural and substantive issues. This presentation will provide practical guidance on how to prepare a problem-free family law judgment packet. The topics that will be covered are:
- The procedural differences between uncontested judgments, default judgments, and judgment after court trial
- The methods for obtaining and filing a signed judgment packet
- The pleadings and other documents required for each particular judgment packet
- Judgment of Dissolution (all issues)
- Status Only Judgment
- Judgment on Reserved Issues
- Paternity Judgment
- Default Judgment
- Common errors made in judgment packets and how to avoid them
Time will be allowed at the conclusion of the presentation for attendees to submit judgment related questions, so long as the questions are not case specific.
