2023 Evening Conversation with the Civil Bench

2023 Evening Conversation with the Civil Bench

Wednesday, March 22, 2023 (5:30 PM - 7:30 PM) (PDT)

Description

Join the Santa Clara County Superior Court Civil Supervising Judge, Case Managers, and Managing Judge for Writs/Provisional Remedies for our annual discussion on civil practice. Our discussion will cover topics of interest to civil litigation practitioners on navigating a “post-pandemic” world with social distancing, masks, and other protocols with ex parte applications, default judgments, law and motion, provisional remedies and trials. Topics to be covered include:

State of the civil division; How, what and when to file ex parte applications; Virtual versus in person hearings: What are my options?; Obtaining hearing dates; Case managers’ philosophy on law and motion matters; Informal discovery conference program-who is using them and why?; Mandatory settlement conferences—how are they being conducted and who conducts them?; Where is my default application?; How to conduct TRO/PI hearings and writ of mandate matters; Civil jury trials--how are they proceeding and are they going out on time?

These topics and more will be covered in this always interesting and informative annual Bench/Bar dialogue. Don’t be left in the dark on how to effectively represent your clients in Santa Clara County!

*This event is available in-person and online.

*In-person registration closes on March 16
